Turning a product-centric organization into a performance-centric one is exceptionally difficult - Eric Karofsky.
Leveraging and extending prior work in availability and performance based contracts, Richard Hartley is assisting Boeing Defence UK within their TLCS operation for the UK Chinook Helicopter, specifically in the ILS field.
Performance based logistics and contracting for availability continue to become more prominent within the UK MoD's through life strategy. As Boeing Defence rightly increases it's capability and position in this discipline, the challenge is to take a successful service previously focused around major and minor repair lines and build upon it to encompass greater levels of support including future modifications, spares and in theatre assistance, whilst continuing to drive out non-value-added costs.
Using personally created processes and techniques, specifically designed for this type of contract arrangement together with appropriate software tools, Richard is working with the TLCS core team on a number of activities, to strengthen the service offering and prepare it for future growth.
The successes of Chinook and Boeing's TLCS project to date have been underlined by the UK Governments decision for continued Chinook Airframe procurement at a time when the UK is facing signficant financial pressures. The future for the Chinook TLCS team and Boeing Defence as a whole is to continue and build on those successes.
