Systems Engineering - An interdisciplinary field of engineering focusing on how complex engineering projects should be designed and managed.
The majority of projects undertaken by Technospirit Consulting have elements of engineering or information technology at their core.
Alongside his qualifications and experience in project management, supply chain and procurement, Richard Hartley holds a Chartership in Engineering and 14yrs of predominantly aerospace related experience in positions throughout the entire design lifecycle, from individual components up to system level analysis, together with hands on integration and in-service experience.
Subject matter covered in depth during that timeframe includes:
- Blue sky research and development on military night vision optics
- Design of LED technology into military air and land environments
- Preparation of military equipment specifications
- Mechanical, electrical and EMC development testing support to MilStan, DefStan, and civil aerospace specifications
- Integration testing onboard multiple aircraft types
- Design modifications and generating their written proposals
- Equipment DDP preparation
- Authoring of build process documentation
- Airworthiness investigation support
- Flight trials management of military test aircraft
- New build and retrofit installations on Boeing and Airbus widebody aircraft
- Aircraft lineside support to equipment fitted in civil aerospace widebody cabins
- Hands on use and verification of aircraft CMMs
- Operating in EASA145 and EASA21 environments
- Operating in Military DefStan05-123(DAOS) and 05-130(MAOS) environments
- Operations and process improvements in repair and workshop environments
- Repair process verifications and first article inspections
- Product and manufacturing development of composite radome structures
- Obsolescence management
- Reliability and maintenance activity tracking and codification
- Project management of aircraft LRU from specification through to delivered product and in service use
Aggregating that total experience allows Richard to operate in and interface with all parts of large project teams, including the financial functions and project sponsors. Additionally and importantly, it supplies lessons learnt from multiple operating environments and different tiers of the supply chain.
